List of Slides

This is a set of slides that can be shared using Zoom's Share Screen facility. The sequence of slides is something like the following list, although it may change from time to time.

How to use the slides

To use these slides, click on the buttons below. The slideshow will open in a new window. Note...

• You should share the window via Zoom's "Share Screen" facility. Do not share the window you are reading now - share the one that pops up when you click the buttons. Press F11 to make it full screen.
• You can control it via the bar along the bottom of the window. The symbols on the bar should display a "tooltip" when you hover your mouse over them.
• At the moment the slide show does not respond to key presses, like Powerpoint does. Thus you need to actually click on the little icons to move it along - just pressing N or spacebar wont do anything.
• If it goes "haywire", press CTRL-SHIFT-R to re-load the web page.
• The window for the slides is a special "trimmed down" one. You cannot type a URL in the address-bar; all you can do is to close the window to remove it.

The control bar looks something like this...

The elements are, left to right, ...

1. Current slide number
2. Goto slide number (pull down menu)
3. First slide
4. Last slide
5. Go back one slide
6. Go forward one slide
7. Start looping of slides 1 to 4. (When looping is active, the icon is greyed out, and a countdown figure shows immediately to the left)
8. Stop looping. Note: Manually moving to any slide also stops the loop.
9. Reload the page (in case it is misbehaving)
10. Toggle full-screen mode. (Note that following any link, or reloading the page will bring it out of full-screen mode if you use this icon)
11. Close Window

Links to slides

Select a month from the pull-down list and then click the Open Slide Window button. If there is no info in the database for the selected month, you'll just get a blank screen.

1. Change 27-Sep-2024 : When the Slides Window opens it will display a note in yellow reminding you to set the window to full-screen mode. Click the ⛶ icon in the yellow box, or click the same icon in the control bar bottom-right of the window. This is the only way to make that yellow box disappear. Once you are in full-screen mode, you can use ALT-TAB to switch between your desktop windows, which is a standard Windows action. Pressing f11 or the toolbar icon ⛶ will bring you out of full-screen mode. Note that although f11 will bring you out of full-screen mode, you should not use it to go into full-screen mode (as you might have done in the past) because that will not make the yellow box disappear. The yellow box only disappears when you use the ⛶ icon.

2. Change 27-Sep-2024 : In the Slides Window there is a new icon (an X) bottom-right in the control bar, which will close the window. This is accessible when you are in full-screen mode. Clicking it will close the window and close screen-sharing.

As this project is still under development, there are likely to be various test messages, box borders and information boxes. To get rid of an information box, just click the "X" in the top right corner of the box - if it has one.
