This Field Guide was produced to accompany the joint QRA / BCRA Field Meeting to Cumbria and the Yorkshire Dales in June 2012. Gouffre Berger - L'Esprit d'Equipe by Mark Wright and Robbie Shone
This book provides past visitors with an excellent showcase of its most significant features and will hopefully inspire future visits to this magnificent cave system. It provides a history of the cave's exploration together with valuable information for those planning a visit.
All profits from the sale of the book will support the work of the Ghar Parau Foundation (GPF) and the Association Nicola. The GPF is a sub-charity of BCRA, funding UK caving expeditions. The Association Nicola is a French charity which was involved in developing a through-rock communication system now in use by many caving groups.

Cave and Karst Science (ISSN 1356-191X) is BCRA's peer-reviewed science journal, published three times a year. Paper subscriptions are available to members and non-members. It is available online, free of charge, as part of BCRA's commitment to open access to scientific research. Our predecessor publications, BCRA Transactions and Cave Science are also online. Most issues of C&KS and its predecessors are also available on paper - see the catalogue listing.
Speleology (ISSN 1478-999X) was originally the Bulletin of BCRA but, after BCA's creation, it was adopted as BCA's in-house magazine. Although still published by BCRA, it was largely funded by BCA, with the strap-line Bulletin of British Caving. It ceased publication with issue 19. Back issues are available online. Most issues of Speleology and its predecessor publication, Caves and Caving, are also available on paper - see the catalogue listing.
The BCRA Annual Review (no ISBN as yet) is a new publication, designed as a replacement for Speleology. The first issue will be published in the summer of 2016 and it will appear annually, shortly in advance fo our AGM, each year. The content will include reports of BCRA field meetings and activities, as well as our Report and Annual Accounts.
The Cave Radio and Electronics Group Journal (ISSN 1361-4800). CREG is one of BCRA's Special Interest Groups. CREG is probably the leading organisation of its kind in the world. It produces a quarterly journal, which is available on paper or as an online subscription. The online content is free to BCRA members. Most back issues are available on paper.
The Cave Studies Series is a set of introductory booklets on a range of cave-related topics. It provides an introductory text aimed at the sport caver who has become interested in some other aspect of speleology. We are always willing to consider possible new titles and to discuss projects with potential authors. There are plans to make some of the titles available online in the near future.
Caves and Karst of the Yorkshire Dales (ISBN 978-0-900265-46-4) is a major new book from BCRA, which presents a comprehensive overview of all aspects of the caves and karst of the Yorkshire Dales. It is the long-awaited successor to the 1974 publication Limestones and Caves of Northwest England but is a much more comprehensive treatment because of the many cave discoveries in the last 40 years and the new information that is available on the underground and surface features.

A two-volume Cave Science Index, which covers Cave & Karst Science and its predecessor titles has been published on paper, although this is rather out-of-date now. A more up-to-date online version can be searched. The online version has been extended to include the publications of BCRA's predecessors and those of University of Bristol Spelaeological Society and William Pengelly Cave Studies Trust. It also covers BCRA's Cave Surveying Group and Cave Radio & Electronics Group.
BCRA still has stock of most issues of BCRA's 'transactions' and 'bulletin' as well as those of its predecessor organisations. Please enquire.
Some non-BCRA material is stored in our Online Archive. Plus, of course, the British Caving Library contains a large amount of material.
Other Items, see Publications List
Speleological Abstracts / Bulletin Bibliographique Spéléologique (BBS) is a world-wide bibliography of caving publications, produced annually by the UIS (Union Internationale de Spéléologie). Its correspondents around the world collect caving articles and scientific papers which are catalogued into an A4 volume. From 1993 SA/BBS incorporated the earlier BCRA publication Current Titles in Speleology (CTS). You can purchase issues up to number 44 from BCRA (see Publications List) but please note that the more recent versions are not stocked by BCRA and the very latest annual editions are only available digitally from UIS. BCRA co-ordinates the abstracting of British publications for inclusion. If you have material for inclusion, please contact Gina Moseley g.moseley[at]bcra...etc.. For the latest information, please see the postings to the BCRA News Forum.
We have a number of other titles in stock. Please contact us for an up-to-date list. You can also inspect a list of past BCRA titles, listed by ISBN / ISSN.
