- Tests on the Reception Pattern of Earth Current Antennas (4-8)
- Earth current antennas exhibit the familiar figure-of-eight reception pattern. Chris Trayner describes experimental work to determine whether the directionality can be used as a means of combating Loran interference. He concludes that the shallow nulls he observed were due to the effects of multiple Loran beacons at different locations.

- A number of countries have given permission for radio amateurs and other interested people to carry out experiments in this part of the spectrum. John Rabson looks at the possibilities for cave radio.

- Acoustic Drip Counters for Environmental Monitoring (10-13)
- An acoustic method of counting water drips is used to make high-resolution measurements of drip discharge rates in a cave. The fast and accurate response of allows correlation between external environmental factors and drip rates within the cave. Dave Mattey and Chris Collister describe their equipment that is currently installed in St Michaels Cave, Gibraltar.
