Overcoming Flight Restrictions: Using non-Lithium Batteries with LED-based Caving Lamps (3-7)
Carrying lithium-based cells on aircraft is severely restricted. Modern caving lamps use lithium-ion battery packs so this is an issue for cavers travelling to expeditions. Mike Bedford provides advice on using non-lithium alternatives. Solutions are offered for the Scurion 'Caving' and 'Basic' but the principles are more general.

Search Engines (Mike Cowlishaw, David Gibson).

The British Cave-Monitoring Centre (8)
The British Cave Research Association is teaming up with Buxton Civic Association to provide a facility to be known as the British Cave Monitoring Centre at Poole's Cavern show cave, in Derbyshire, UK. Equipment will be provided to allow students to undertake projects to provide long-term monitoring of cave climate and to facilitate cave-related studies and scientific research. David Gibson describes how this is also an opportunity for BCRA's Cave Radio and Electronics Group to provide tailor-made equipment for sensing, logging, and the transmission of data to a website. The British Cave-Monitoring Centre uses Tinytag data loggers.

caveGEOmap: User-friendly Cave Mapping Software (9-12)
Angel A. Acosta-Colón and Jose F. Candelaria-Soberal describe the development of a new, free, cave mapping package. Resulting output is compared with results from GeoSLAM ZEB1 lidar surveys of two caves in Puerto Rico's northern coastal karst belt.

Web Watch (12)
Having scoured the Internet once again, Peter Ludwig comes up trumps with another eclectic selection of links to interest, entertain, instruct and divert.

The Winter Receiver: a Design for Radiolocation and Communication (13-16)
For use with their Summer beacon and data transmitter for cave communication, Juan L. Ronda and Enrique Díez present the design of their new Winter receiver.

Wet & Dry (17)
Ruggedisation, waterproofing & construction techniques – a roundup by Tony Haigh. Bluetooth caving applications.

Micro HeyPhone: Update to V2 (18-19)
Ian Cooper describes some updates to the original Micro HeyPhone design, providing improved AGC performance and audio quality.

We Hear... (20)
News and events – Mike Bedford brings us the latest to impact the world of cave radio and electronics. Cave Communication to go Quantum, Cosmic Ray Muons for Void Detection, DiffuserCam: the Future of 3D Imaging?

Building the Micro HeyPhone (21-24)
Following the electronic design that was presented in the last issue, Ian Cooper presents details of the Micro HeyPhone's mechanical design and provides constructional information.
